I think the answer you are looking for is Pete Best. But I always like to think of Stuart Sutcliffe as the fifth Beatle. He was so cute. It depresses me that he died.

I always think of George Martin was the 5th Beatle. Ok, he wasn't as good looking as Pete or Stu but there you go...

Well, I would be between Brian Epstein and George Martin. I mean, they were who really were behind every step the Beatles gave in their career (unfortunately, Brian was there until 1967 ) And as you said, Stu would be a great candidate too I think he was wonderful, but his skills were more for painting instead of music. And well, about Pete...he's a good guy

I wonder who the Beatles would nominate as the 5th Beatle?

Actually I don't understand, why does everybody want so hardly to find 5th Beatle?? I agree with NorwegianWood- no 5th Beatle. But if I would have to say something 'bout it, I think that real 5th Beatle is all their fans, 'cause a guess without them there would be no Beatles..
